Ishrat-e-qatra hai darya mein fanaa ho jaana
Dard ka had se guzarna hai dawa ho jaana
وہ آئے گھر میں ہمارے، خدا کی قدرت ہے
کبھی ہم اُن کو، کبھی اپنے گھر کو دیکھتے ہیں
Wo aaye ghar mein hamare, Khuda ki qudrat hai
Kabhi hum unko, kabhi apne ghar ko dekhte hain
عشق پر زور نہیں ہے، یہ وہ آتش ‘غالب’
کی لگائے نہ لگے اور بجھائے نہ بنے
Ishq par zor nahin hai, ye woh aatish ‘Ghalib’
ki Lagaaye na lage aur bujhaaye na bane
اُن کے دیکھے سے جو آ جاتی ہے منہ پر رونق
وہ سمجھتے ہیں کہ بیمار کا حال اچھا ہے
Un ke dekhe se jo aa jati hai munh par raunaq
Wo samajhte hain ki bimar ka haal achha hai
ہزاروں خواہشیں ایسی کہ ہر خواہش پہ دم نکلے
بہت نکلے میرے ارمان لیکن پھر بھی کم نکلے
Hazaron khwahishen aisi ke har khwahish pe dam
nikle Bohot nikle mere armaan lekin phir bhi kam nikle
بے خودی بے سبب نہیں، غالب،
کچھ تو ہے جس کی پردہ داریہے۔
Be-khudi be-sabab nahi, Ghalib,
kuchh to hai jis ki parda-dari hai.
عشق نے ‘غالب’ نکما کر دیا
ورنہ ہم بھی آدمی تھے کام کے۔
Ishq ne ‘Ghalib’ nikamma kar diya
varna hum bhi aadmi the kaam ke.
نہ تھا کچھ تو خدا تھا، کچھ نہ ہوتا تو خدا ہوتا
ڈبویا مجھ کو ہونے نے، نہ ہوتا میں تو کیا ہوتا
Na tha kuch to Khuda tha, kuch na hota to Khuda hota
Duboya mujh ko hone ne, na hota main to kya hota
ہم کو معلوم ہے جنت کی حقیقت لیکن
دل کے خوش رکھنے کو ‘غالب’ یہ خیال اچھا ہے۔
Hum ko ma’aloom hai jannat ki haqeeqat lekin
Dil ke khush rakhne ko ‘Ghalib’ ye khayal achha hai.
محبت میں نہیں ہے فرق جینے اور مرنے کا
اُسی کو دیکھ کر جیتے ہیں جس کافر پہ دم نکلے
Mohabbat mein nahi hai farq jeene aur marne ka
Usi ko dekh kar jeete hain jis kafir pe dam nikle
اس سادگی پہ کون نہ مر جائے،
اے خدا لڑتے ہیں اور ہاتھ میں تلوار بھی نہیں
Is saadgi pe kaun na mar jaye,
ae Khuda Ladte hain aur haath mein talwar bhi nahi
رگوں میں ڈوڑتے پھرنے کے ہم نہیں قائل
جب آنکھ ہی سے نہ ٹپکا تو پھر لہو کیا ہے
Ragon mein daudte phirne ke hum nahin qaa’il
Jab aankh hi se na tapka to phir lahu kya hai
ہم کو ان سے وفا کی ہے امید، جو نہیں جانتے وفا کیا ہے۔
Hum ko un se wafa ki hai umeed, jo nahi jaante wafa kya hai.
